Newcastle United, 11:29, August 15, 2008 ,
Fabricio Coloccini has told Kevin Keegan he is ready to make his Magpies debut on Sunday after completing his £10m switch from Spain.
The 26-year-old admitted it was "a dream" to finally become a Newcastle player after lengthy negotiations between the club and Deportivo La Coruna to settle on the transfer fee.
Coloccini, who will wear the number 2, penned a five-year deal at St James' Park and told his new manager that he is ready and raring to go for the opener against champions Man Utd at Old Trafford.
"I think I am a good technical player and I will be suited to the speed and physical side of the game in England," he said.
"I am also still fit because I was doing pre-season training with Deportivo and I can't wait to get started.
"I'm very excited to be here and it is a dream to play for such a big club in the Premier League.
"I have known about Newcastle's interest for a while and I wanted to sign because it is a club I know all about from my time watching English football in Spain and Argentina.
"Playing at St James' Park, in front of those fans, is something I cannot wait to do."
