Toon tempt Inter into offloading striker

Newcastle United, 14:09, February 23, 2009 ,

Newcastle have contacted Inter Milan as they chase the signature of Honduran international hitman David Suazo for next season.

St James' Park officials are putting plans in place to revamp the Magpies strikeforce for next season and are believed to be hot on the heels of Suazo - who has been on loan at Benfica this season.
United and Inter have a good relationship after deals which brought Emre and Obafemi Martins to the club in the past, with the club's top brass confident of pulling off a deal for the 29-year-old.
Suazo, who scored eight Serie A goals from 27 appearances last season, cost Inter £9.4million but they would settle for a fee less than £8 million now.
The ex-Cagliari player is believed to be happy in Lisbon and his agent claims he would be open to extending his loan with Benfica for another season.
