Viduka ready for scrap

Newcastle United, 12:44, February 25, 2009 ,

Newcastle United striker Mark Viduka is glad to be back in action and believes he has a lot to offer in Newcastle's relegation scrap.

The 33-year-old Australian returned to first-team action in the 3-2 win over West Brom after recovering from injury.
That result moved Newcastle five points clear of the relegation zone and Viduka is confident his side can start to look up the table rather than over their shoulders.
Viduka's contract is up in the summer and the former Leeds and Middlesbrough striker has previously said he would 'ideally' like to stay on at St James' Park for another season. A new contract offer could all hinge on Viduka's performances in the remaining 12 games of the season and the veteran hitman has vowed to be at his best for the remainder of the campaign.
He told the club's official website: "It was beautiful to get back on the pitch at West Brom
"It's very frustrating to be injured and when you get a little bit older these things tend to take longer to recover from and also things start to effect you more.
"But I just want to play and give my contribution.
"I think I still have a lot to offer the team and I would like to be involved as much as possible - and stay fit."
