Winger committed to Magpies

Newcastle United, 14:25, February 28, 2009 ,

Jonas Gutierrez has insisted he is ready to fight for his place and will work as hard as possible to help Newcastle avoid the drop.

The Argentinian, who has made a decent impact since his arrival from Real Mallorca in the summer, missed the 3-2 win over West Brom after picking up a suspension for picking up five yellow cards.
Gutierrez was then left on the bench for the goalless draw with Everton and now looks set to settle for a place on the bench for Sunday's crunch clash with Bolton.
The 26-year-old though is happy to battle for his place for the good of the team and says the next five games are 'crucial' to the Magpies season.
Speaking to the Chronicle, the winger said: "I'll just keep on working hard and giving the manager a decision to make.
"It's good for us to have competition for places. We're all working hard to make sure we get through the season."
He added: "We now have five matches which are going to be very important for us - they are the most important matches of the season.
"All the team is together, and that is very important."
