Duo set for Cobblers exit
Northampton will release Ryan Gilligan and Jason Crowe at the end of the season.
Also free to leave Sixfields is New Zealand teenager Michael Built. "I've spoken to Jason Crowe and Ryan Gilligan, as well as Michael Built, and those players won't be offered contracts for next season," confirmed Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd on the club's official website. "What I'm hoping is that by giving them the nod early that they won't be getting anything here it will give them the opportunity to perhaps go and trial at other clubs. "There are going to be a lot of players out of work in the summer and I just wanted to give them this opportunity and a little bit of a head start. I think it's only right that I tell the people who aren't going to be involved next year as soon as I can and that's what I'm trying to do." Midfielder Gilligan is Northampton's longest-serving player, while defender Crowe is in his second stint with the club having been re-signed by former manager Gary Johnson. Built, 19, was brought to the club by another former boss - Ian Sampson - but the midfielder has failed to force his way into the first-team picture.
