Chairman Alan Bowkett has confirmed that Norwich's search for players will go international following Chris Hughton's appointment.
Hughton was drafted in as Paul Lambert's successor at Carrow Road late last week and he is now set to go about formulating his plans for next season which is likely to see some transfer activity. The former Birmingham boss, who was responsible for signing Premier League stars Cheick Tiote and Hatem Ben Arfa when they relative unknowns during his time in charge of Newcastle, has revealed that he will assess his available options before looking to strengthen the squad. However, with Hughton on board and the return of Ewan Chester as chief scout, Bowkett has suggested they will be looking to sign players from outside of the United Kingdom. "I think we need to think a little more internationally now, and with Chris's background we will be able to do that," said Bowkett in the Evening News. "I am delighted that Ewan is joining us again, who was a great advocate of young talent when he was with Paul Lambert previously and we would expect to cast our net out a little wider than heretofore. "We have picked the low-hanging fruit, and I think Paul recognised that as well and, to be fair to him, he was preparing to look at wider horizons as well."
