Defender deal given green light

An employment law expert has come down on the side of Norwich and says the signing of Steven Whittaker from Rangers was legal.
Rangers newco, the company formed after Rangers went into liquidation, claim the defender is still contracted to the Scottish club as the player's contracts were bought as part of the assets of the Gers by Charles Green's Sevco consortium.
However, an employment lawyer has stated he feels the deal struck by Rangers owners was made outside the law and Whittaker was free to join the Canaries.
"It is not legally possible for Rangers and Charles Green to buy and sell players as part of a business transfer," said Adrian Hoggarth, the head of employment law at Prolegal.
