Norwich have been dealt an unwelcome blow after Harry Kane was ruled out for up to six weeks in the wake of their Capital One Cup win.

The on-loan striker hurt his ankle in the Canaries' 1-0 victory against Doncaster Rovers as Chris Hughton's men progressed through to the fourth round. Ironically City will face the 19-year-old's parent club Tottenham in the last 16, but they will have to do so without the teenager who may also have broken a metatarsal. Hughton claims the full extent of Kane's injury problems are still not known as he continues to be assessed but the former Spurs defender and coach is not expecting him to be available for selection for at least the next two months. It's fair to say that losing a forward couldn't have come at a worse time for City, who are struggling to score goals in the Premier League. Hughton said: "It was so innocuous because there was no contact. It is a shame. We know he went over on his ankle. He is being assessed. He will certainly be out for a period of weeks, a month-plus rather than short of that. It is disappointing for us. "He will be a big loss because he is a young player of fabulous potential. It was a big move for Harry to come here, an exciting move. I feel for him at the moment."
