Chris Hughton has dismissed reports linking Norwich City with a possible swoop for free agent striker Michael Owen.
The 32-year-old is looking for a new club after being released by Manchester United at the end of last season and he is desperate to stay in the Premier League. Stoke appeared to be in the box seat to land the striker but Tony Pulis' reluctance to offer the kind of contract he is after has left the door open for other clubs to nip in. Everton have always been in the running and were then favourites to do a deal last week, but nothing has materialised since. It resulted in speculation linking Hughton with a possible move for Owen, but he was quick to dismiss the claims out of hand. He told the Eastern daily Press: "Wow. Not that I am aware of. "It is no surprise because at this stage of the window you get linked with lots of names that are not true. That is very much a new one to me. It is an area we are looking it to do something but that would have to be the right player."
