Magpies sack McParland

Notts County, 14:00, October 12, 2009 ,

Notts County have sacked manager Ian McParland after just 12 League Two games of this season.

The Magpies, who sit fifth in the league and are four points off top spot, have lost patience with McParland following Sunday's 2-2 draw against struggling Torquay in which they threw away a two-goal lead at Meadow Lane.
Following the arrival of new owners in the summer and former England coach Sven Goran Eriksson appointed as director of football it was hoped County would win promotion to League One as they aim to progress to the Premier League within five years. However, despite big money having being spent on new players, the progress made this season is not deemed quick enough for the success-hungry new owners.
