Luke Campbell says he is peaking at just the right time ahead of his Anglo-Irish gold medal bantamweight bout against John Joe Nevin.
The pair go head-to-head at what is sure to be an atmospheric ExCel Arena this evening, with plenty of Irish fans cheering on Nevin as they bid to make more noise than the GB fans backing Campbell.
Campbell will be hoping to secure Team GB's second gold medal after Nicola Adams' women's flyweight success on Thursday, but he faces a tough test against Nevin.
The pair have met twice before with one win apiece. Campbell just about came out on top on countback at last year's World Championships in the semi-finals while Nevin beat Campbell convincingly at the 2009 EU Championships.
Hull-born star Campbell is confident he can claim gold and believes he has improved sufficiently at London 2012 so far.
"It's all about the gold medal for me now and it's always the case that I get better in each fight in a tournament," he said.
"But I'm proud of what I've done so far and I'm happy to make my family proud and my little lad and my home town of Hull."
