Great Britain swimmer Rebecca Adlington has insisted she will be giving it her all in the 800m freestyle on Friday night.
The 23-year-old finished the fastest in qualifying ahead of her biggest rival in the form of Lotte Friis of Denmark, who also impressed in the pool on Thursday. Adlington has a bronze medal under her belt in the London Olympics already in the 400m freestyle, having finished third in her weaker event - the 400m freestyle. The defending 800m freestyle Olympic champion is raring to go and believes it will be between herself and Friis for the gold. She told the BBC: "We've been racing each other since the European juniors in 2004. One year I win, the next year she wins. "I'm going to give it my all in the final, it's all about who can get that finish."
