WBA world light-welterweight champion Amir Khan has confirmed he intends to fight in the United States for the first time in 2010.
The 22-year-old, who is now based in Los Angeles under the stewardship of top trainer Freddie Roach, needed just 76 seconds to defend his belt against Dmitriy Salita in Newcastle on Saturday.
He feels the next logical step in his career is to make an impact in America by taking on the big names.
"After the reception I got in Newcastle it will be hard to leave England but next year will be a good time to fight in the States," Khan told BBC Sport.
"Hopefully we can go and shock the world when we go to America."
Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico and American duo Luis Castillo and Zab Judah have been mentioned possible future opponents, while promoter Frank Warren has said he will try dissuade Khan from fighting Ricky Hatton.
