Boxing star's royal appointment

Other Sports, 14:11, November 26, 2008 ,

Joe Calzaghe has recieved his CBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday for his services to sport and voluntary services.

The boxing star was included in the Queen's Birthday Honours and today picked up his medal, which will go along with the MBE that the Welshman recieved back in 2003.
The 26-year-old maintained his 46-fight unbeaten record, which has spanned a 10-year period, earlier this month when he defeated Roy Jones Jnr in New York City.
In 2007, Calzaghe unified the WBO, WBA and WBC super-middleweight titles for the first time, before stepping up to light-heavyweight and defeating Bernard Hopkins in April to take the championship belt at that weight.
