Brook highlights Jones respect
Kell Brook was full of praise for his opponent Carson Jones after he scraped past him on points to win their IBF world title eliminator
After a bright start to the fight in his home-town of Sheffield on Saturday night, Brook quickly faded and saw his nose badly bloodied in the eighth round. With Jones finishing the bout the stronger, Brook had to somehow fend off a relentless barrage of blows from his American opponent. With the fight going the distance the pair had to be separated on points, with two judges awarding the match 116-113 and 115-113 in Brook's favour and a third scoring it a draw. The victory means 26-year-old Brook remains undefeated, winning 28 professional fights, 18 by knockout. "I think I've proved I've got the heart. I stood my ground and did what I needed to get the fight," Brook said after the fight. "Carson Jones has won my respect tonight It was a fight I needed, to dig in - if you don't get through the fight you don't win."
