Calzaghe relaxed about future
Other Sports, 10:50, November 25, 2008 ,
Joe Calzaghe has insisted he has not opened talks to fight IBF light-heavyweight champion Chad Dawson next summer.
Reports had suggested the American was hoping to tempt unbeaten Calzaghe out of retirement with a Millennium Stadium showdown, but the Welshman said: "I haven't talked to anyone, let alone Dawson, about having another potential fight."
Calzaghe, who beat Roy Jones Jnr in New York City earlier this month, has already moved to insist he will not be offering Bernard Hopkins a rematch, while Jermain Taylor, Glen Johnson and WBA super-middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler hope to face the 36-year-old.
However, Calzaghe told BBC Sport: "The truth is I have not made my mind up.
"It is too soon since my fight with Roy Jones Jr to make a decision one way or the other."
He added: "I don't want to make a hasty decision to retire because if next year comes and I actually feel ready and want to fight, I might want to fight again.
"But at this moment in time, I don't have the motivation to fight on - but things can change. I don't know is the honest answer."
