James DeGale stopped Italian veteran Cristian Sanavia in the fourth round to defend his European super-middleweight title on Saturday.
The 26-year-old Londoner, the 2008 Olympic middleweight champion, controlled the opening rounds of the contest in Denmark, but was caught by Sanavia at the end of the third round which caused him to wobble.
However, DeGale responded perfectly in the fourth round when he put his 37-year-old opponent down onto the canvas three times, forcing the referee to eventually call a halt.
It was DeGale's first defence of the belt he won by beating Poland's Piotr Wilczewski on points in October and takes his overall record to 12-1.
He is also now on track for a world title fight, although it has been reported that he snubbed the chance to step in for injured rival George Groves to fight WBO titleholder Robert Stieglitz on May 5.
