GB on course for boxing success

Other Sports, 15:31, August 19, 2008

Boxer Tony Jeffries will win at least a bronze medal in Beijing having made the semi-finals of the light-heavyweight tournament.

There was a cagey start by man from Sunderland, but he pulled away in the second round with four unanswered points against his opponent from Hungary - Imre Szello.

Jeffries continued to take the fight to Szello, scoring another four points in the final round and eventually claimed a 10-2 success.

The 23-year-old is now through to the semi-final, where he will face Ireland's Kenny Egan on Friday as they fight for the right to battle it out for Olympic gold.

Super-heavyweight David Price, from Liverpool, also made it through to his semi-final on Monday as Team GB look to add further medals to already impressive tally.
