Haye ponders Vitali option

Other Sports, 10:10, June 9, 2009 ,

David Haye now hopes to fight WBC world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in September - instead of his younger brother Wladimir.

'The Haymaker' was expected to meet IBF and WBO champion Wladimir on June 20 in Gelsenkirchen but suffered a back injury at his training camp in Cyprus which led to the fight being cancelled.
Wladimir will keep the date and now fight joint WBA champion Ruslan Chagaev in Germany, while outspoken Haye hopes to return to action in September.
"We've spoken about Vitali in September," said his manager, Adam Booth. "Fighting Vitali is just something that was thrown up with a few other things, but we've not directly talked to them about it.
"We were only asking for a three-week delay and Wladimir is either impatient or it's an indication of his desire about really wanting to fight David."
