Following his resounding victory over Lucian Bute, Carl Froch now wants a rematch with Mikkel Kessler, according to Eddie Hearn
Froch was beaten by Kessler on a points decision when the pair met in April 2010, and the IBF Super Middleweight Champion is understood to be keen on the idea of facing the Dane for a second time. And today promoter Hearn has fanned the flames of speculation by insisting that Kessler is Froch's favoured opponent, and suggesting that the fight could be staged as early as October. "Kessler is our favoured opponent. Carl wasn't at 100% for their first fight and he lost a narrow decision. If that had been in the UK, he would have won," said Hearn. "We're looking at Froch's next fight being in October, and Froch versus Kessler is the perfect fight that everyone wants to see. I spoke with Kessler's people last week and we're hopeful of hammering something out." Froch entered into his showdown with Canadian fighter Bute last month as the overwhelming underdog, but produced a spectacular performance to beat his opponent via a TKO in the fifth round and become a three-time world champion.
