A threat of expulsion has not deterred the Luxembourg Boxing Federation from sanctioning the David Haye versus Dereck Chisora fight.
The LBF had stepped in to support the grudge fight as neither fighter currently holds a British licence following their brawl at a press conference in Munich in February. The European Boxing Union passed a motion at a general assembly that the LBF would be thrown out of the organisation if they continued to support the fight, but the LBF voted to maintain its backing at a special general meeting by eight votes to four. The contest is now set to go ahead at Upton Park on July 14 and the fighters will be doing battle for the WBO and WBA intercontinental titles. A statement released by Frank Warren Promotions read: "Therefore the LBF is backing the show along with the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and the World Boxing Association (WBA), whose International and Intercontinental titles will be contested, and the promotion will definitely go ahead."
