Mayweather Jr "disappointed" by injury

Other Sports, 12:12, June 16, 2009 ,

Floyd Mayweather Jr has promised to remain focused for his postponed comeback fight against Juan Manuel Marquez.

The unbeaten American has picked up a rib injury in training and will not be ready for the MGM Grand Garden Arena meeting with world lightweight kingpin Marquez on July 18.
The Pretty Boy has not fought since stopping Ricky Hatton in December 2007 but has insisted his preparations will not be affected by the postponement.
"I am extremely disappointed that this fight has to be postponed," Mayweather said.
"I was training very hard and looking forward to getting back in the ring on July 18."
Marquez, from his training camp in Mexico, added: "I was very disappointed to hear the news about the fight being postponed.
"I will remain focused, in shape and ready to fight whenever the fight is rescheduled for."
