Mosely lined up for Mayweather Jr

Floyd Mayweather Jr has confirmed that he will fight WBA super-champion Shane Mosley for his welterweight title on May 1.

The 32-year-old undefeated American, who has won titles in five divisions, was due to face world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiaoa in a mega-fight in March. However that fight was scuppered when Pacquiao refused to undertake Olympic-style random blood and urine sampling in the build-up to the showdown.
Mayweather Jr, who returned from a two-year retirement following his victory against Ricky Hatton in 2007 with a win against Juan Manuel Marquez last September, is now looking to continue his unbeaten record against 38-year-old Mosley in Las Vegas.
He said: "This is for the fans as I wasn't going to waste anyone's time with a meaningless tune-up bout.
"Shane is one of the best but come May 1 he won't be great enough to beat me."
Mayweather, who along with Mosley agreed to random drug testing ahead of the bout, added: "I have said ever since I came back to the sport that I only wanted to fight the best."
Meanwhile Pacquiao, who is now set to fight Ghana's Joshua Clottey in Dallas on March 13, still believes his fight with Mayweather will go ahead later this year.
