Five independent judges have ruled Manny Pacquiao did win his fight against Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Boxing found itself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons again when the Filipino icon lost a controversial split decision against the American on June 10. Bob Arum, the promoter of both fighters, was stunned by the result, while Bradley has rejected an alleged claim made by Arum that the boxer told him "I couldn't beat the guy" immediately after the fight. The WBO hired a quintet of officials to re-score the fight - with all of them ruling Pacquiao should have won - but the body is unable to overturn the result. "I hope with this ruling the public's faith in boxing would be restored," said the 33-year-old Pacquiao . "I was not surprised by the WBO ruling. I knew that I won, so did the whole world. But that is already over and I am now focusing on the next fight."
