Warren tips Cobra to dodge Cleverly bout
Frank Warren does not believe Carl Froch will want to step up a weight class to face fellow Briton Nathan Cleverly in 2013.
Warren, who is Cleverly's promoter, is well aware that super-middleweight world champion, Froch, has other targets going into the New Year with potential re-matches against Andre Ward and Mikkel Kessler on the cards.
However, Warren feels a showdown between Froch and light-heavyweight counterpart Cleverly would be far more lucrative and a fight all British boxing fans would like to see. But he does not believe 'The Cobra' would be willing to move up a weight class to make it happen.
"Next year, IBF super-middle champ Froch is expected to get an opportunity to avenge his April 2010 loss to WBA titlist Mikkel Kessler in the UK," Warren said, in his column for The Sun. "That's a decent match but a far better one would be for 'The Cobra' to step up to 175lbs to challenge Cleverly.
"My guess is he'll swerve the challenge."
