Asa Hall has agreed a deal with Shrewsbury just 24 hours after it was announced he had rejected a new contract at Oxford.
Hall joined the U's in 2010 and was offered what chairman Kelvin Thomas described as "a decent offer on improved terms" but the midfielder has instead opted to link up with Town, who clinched automatic promotion to League One this season.
Thomas on Monday told Oxford's official website: "To be fair to Asa he was honest with us and has been offered a contract on quite a bit more money closer to home and in a higher division."
The 25-year-old is no stranger to Shrews having enjoyed a loan spell from then parent club Birmingham in 2008, scoring three times in 15 appearances.
Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner told the club's official website: "I am delighted that Asa will be joining us in July.
"He had an impressive spell on loan here several seasons ago and I've always been impressed with his ability and attitude to work. He is starting to build up a reputation for scoring long-range spectacular goals and I look forward to working with him."
