Boyd exit on hold

Peterborough United, 13:36, February 25, 2010 ,

Middlesbrough will have to turn their attentions to another midfielder after Peterborough blocked a loan move for George Boyd.

Boro boss Gordon Strachan has been tracking the midfielder and made what was described as a 'significant' to bring the player on loan to the club with the view to possibly making the deal permanent in the summer.
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has confirmed that Boro have made an offer to take Boyd on loan but claims while they still have a chance of avoiding the drop he is unlikely to be allowed to leave.
Fry said: "Unless someone comes out of the woodwork, or Middlesbrough really up their bid, nothing will happen.
"The figures they've put to us, while substantial, are not good enough.
"We are still in touch with Middlesbrough about George, but I'd be surprised if he left while it is still mathematically possible for us to stay up."
