Posh are denying reports suggesting Darren Ferguson's job is on the line and laughed off talk of interest in him from Hull City.
The speculation about his future has identified after the team's eighth defeat of the season to Barnsley which has left them in 23rd place in the Championship.
One national newspaper claimed crisis talks were held in the wake of the game to discuss Ferguson's position but the are insisting that is not the case.
"Peterborough United Football Club would like to state that the story that appeared in the Daily Mirror on Monday claiming that Darren Ferguson was called for 'summit' talks with chairman Darragh MacAnthony on Sunday is pure fabrication and untrue," said a statement on the club's official website.
"Ferguson was at a coaching course in Cardiff and left after completing his presentation and is in work as normal on Monday."
Meanwhile, Posh director of football Barry Fry has ridiculed suggestions that Ferguson is being lined up to replace under-pressure City boss Phil Brown.
"Several journalists have asked me about Darren going to Hull which is nonsense as far as I'm concerned," Posh director of football Fry has said.
"I spoke to Darren yesterday and obviously he is down because of the results, but he is very confident that things will turn around."
