Championship strugglers Peterborough United have sacked manager Darren Ferguson after securing just 11 points in 16 games.

Ferguson, the son of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, led the Posh to two successive promotion seasons as they reached the Championship but after a poor start to the campaign he has been axed by the club with Peterborough bottom of the Championship.
Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry confirmed Ferguson had departed London Road, he said: "Nothing surprises me in football. I and the club would like to thank him for his miraculous achievements with the total support of the chairman in the near three years he has been at the club and we wish him and his family all the best in the future."
