Posh boss rues triple absence
Peterborough United, 16:33, March 1, 2010 ,
Jim Gannon said the absence of Aaron Mclean, Craig Mackail-Smith and George Boyd was a reason behind Peterborough's defeat at Swansea.
The Posh boss felt the trio, whose goals have helped the side climb from League Two to the Championship in recent seasons, were sorely missed at the Liberty Stadium where David Cotterill's penalty was enough to give the hosts maximum points.
Gannon, who was left with just Liam Dickinson as a lone striker in South Wales, said: "It was an extremely difficult week leading up to the game.
"It was bad enough losing Ryan Bennett and Josh Simpson to injury but then Boyd, Mackail-Smith and Mclean all rang in sick late in the week.
"The lack of the depth in the squad was laid bare and the difference in the technical quality between the sides as a result was decisive."
