Fletcher: Do it for the fans
Plymouth manager Carl Fletcher has urged his players to secure their Football League survival in front of their own fans this weekend.
After a difficult season, during which the Pilgrims overcame a nightmarish start and the burden of financial problems to sneak clear of the npower League Two drop zone, Argyle can ensure safety with victory over Oxford at Home Park on Saturday. And Fletcher feels it would be a fitting finale to a term where players and fans have played an equal part in keeping the club afloat. He told the Plymouth Herald: "In an ideal world we would have won on Saturday (Plymouth lost 1-0 at table-topping Swindon) and it kind of would have been done. "But it's still in our hands and to play at home this weekend in front of our fans, knowing that if we win we are safe no matter what anyone else does, is a great bonus for us. "We will be right up for it and looking forward to the game."
