Left-back heading for Home Park exit
Plymouth Argyle, 13:38, June 18, 2009 ,
New Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee has said he is interested in taking Plymouth defender Jim Paterson on a season-long loan.
The Pilgrims left-back fell out of favour with manager Paul Sturrock last season and was restricted to just seven starts, plus another 10 appearances from the bench.
Sturrock is already under pressure to reduce the size of his squad and will have to lay off some of his fringe players before he can bring any new ones in.
Paterson could be one of the first to go with McGhee admitting that he is interested in taking the 29-year-old across the border.
"Jim Paterson is still under contract with Plymouth but there is a possibility we could get him on a season-long loan," McGhee told the Scottish Daily Express.
"I have a good relationship with Paul Sturrock and they could be willing to let Jim come up to the SPL.
"If that is the case, I would like to bring Jim to Aberdeen. I had him at Motherwell and he was one of our best players.
"If I could get him in, it might allow me to move (left-back) Charlie Mulgrew forward or into a more central position."
