Mariner ready to spend

Plymouth Argyle, 17:42, January 20, 2010 ,

Plymouth boss Paul Mariner is working on a number of transfers after being given the backing of the Argyle board.

Mariner is hoping to bolster his ranks before the window shuts and executive director Keith Todd says the money is there to spend if the player is right for the club.
"Paul and John have got a number of ideas they are working on," Todd told Herald Sport. "They are doing good due diligence, which I'm fully supportive of.
"The big mistake clubs make, and I have to say I think I would include our club in this in the past, is to rush too quickly into deals. You have got to get it right when it comes to any medical issues and to the financial situation.
"We are prepared to pay good money, relative to what Argyle have paid in their history, but we are not prepared to be foolish."
