Target staying put

Plymouth Argyle, 13:17, August 5, 2008 ,

Plymouth Argyle look set to miss out on target Danny Coles as boss Paul Sturrock is left frustrated in the transfer market.

Argyle have had three bids turned down by Bristol Rovers and Rovers boss Paul Trollope confirms he expects the defender to sign a new deal.
Trollope said : "We've knocked back three bids from Plymouth and are now in discussions with Danny over a new contract.
"He's indicated he's willing to sign and hopefully we can conclude that before the end of the week and have Danny tied up on a longer-term deal."
The news will come as a blow to Argyle boss Sturrock as he admits he's had a hard time bringing in players to the South-coast club.
Sturrock said: "I have had a couple of setbacks recently, but that's football.
"There is no point starting to panic and bringing in two or three new boys who don't fit in to what we are trying to achieve.
"I'm trying to bring a certain style of player into the football club, which cuts down your selection."
There is some light at the end of the tunnel for the Pilgrims though, with QPR midfielder Simon Walton expected to make a £750,000 move in the next few days.
