Port Vale manager Micky Adams was pleased with his side's performance despite the fact they were beaten 3-1 at home to Burnley.
Chris Shuker's free-kick had given the Valiants the lead after nine minutes at Vale Park, but three goals from the visitors before half-time ensured Adams' side were unable to cause a cup shock against their npower Championship opponents. Adams said: "We were a lot better in the second half when I was pleased with them. "We put Burnley under pressure, created chances and forced their goalkeeper to make some good saves. "With the greatest respect, we were never going to win this cup and in our division we won't come up against the calibre we've faced. There were some encouraging signs which we can build on."
