Departing striker hails Adams
Outgoing Port Vale striker Marc Richards paid tribute to boss Micky Adams after agreeing a move to Chesterfield.
The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the Spireites, ending a five-year association with the Staffordshire club for whom he scored 67 league goals.
Richards arrived at Vale Park in May 2007, when Martin Foyle was in charge, but insists current boss Adams is the right man to take the Valiants forward.
He told The Sentinel: "I could have left the club a couple of seasons ago, but I stayed, and one of the reasons was Micky Adams.
"We have had a great working relationship and he has been first class, both on and off the pitch. He has been a big influence on me and I will always look up to him.
"The gaffer will probably need to get some new players in, but he will already have a squad in mind. I've no doubt he will make a success of it."
