Port Vale manager Micky Adams has offered contracts to 16 players as he begins to plan for next season.

Goalkeeper Chris Martin was the big-name casualty of Adams' reshuffle as the 21-year-old was one of three players not offered a new deal by the club. Young left-back Phil Roe and midfielder Paul Marshall were also allowed to leave, while another midfielder Ryan Burge has been placed on the transfer list. "These were very difficult decisions and not ones we have taken lightly," Adams told the club's official website. "It is never nice to have to tell people they are not part of your plans, especially good professionals, but it is something that needs to be done for the club to evolve. "I have no doubt the three involved will find other clubs. We thank the players who are leaving for their efforts and wish them the very best of luck for the future. "Meanwhile, we will work with the players who have been offered deals and their representatives to hopefully finalise details in the near future. It looks at the moment as though I have offered most of the squad new deals, but I don't expect them all to agree terms."
