Michael Appleton believes strikers Izale McLeod and Wes Thomas are starting to form a potent partnership.

Goals from McLeod and defender Gabor Gyepes cancelled out a Reuben Reid penalty to give Pompey back-to-back league victories, while condemning the Somerset side to a sixth successive defeat. McLeod, who notched his fourth goal of the season, was a constant threat alongside loanee Thomas - and Appleton believes there is more to come from the pair. He said: "I thought McLeod and Thomas worked well together and we're starting to see the best of them. "They seem to be coming up with a bit of a partnership and hopefully they can continue to get the goals to back up their performance." Appleton added: "I think it was one of our more one-sided games this season and we made life a little more difficult than we needed to."
