Portsmouth are being linked with France international Sidney Govou with Jermain Defoe all but certain to move on this month.
Reports claim Pompey boss Tony Adams wants the 29-year-old Lyon star on board to bolster his options when Defoe ends his year-long spell at Fratton Park.
Aston Villa and Tottenham are both sniffing around Defoe, who missed training on Friday through illness, although Portsmouth will only cash in of the price is right.
"It looks like Jermain wants to go," chief executive Peter Storrie told in The Guardian.
"That is something we will be speaking to him about. If Jermain goes, it will be at our price and if there is an offer which appeals."
Storrie added: "We have always said we do not keep people who do not want to play for Portsmouth. We do not have to sell anyone, but if he wants to go that is a different matter."
Govou has 18 months to run on his current Lyon deal and would have to be persuaded to drop out of the Champions League, although the fact the French champions have Barcelona in the last 16 could have a bearing in his decision.
