Midfielder set for Pompey absence

Portsmouth, 14:59, November 30, 2009

Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has confirmed he will definitely play for Ghana in next year's African Cup of Nations.

The 22-year-old is a former Germany Under-21 international but has found his chances of stepping up non-existent so has opted to pledge his future to the country of his father's birth.

The former Spurs flop told the People: "The African Cup of Nations is a massive tournament and we have a great chance of winning it so there was no question of me not going.

"I just have to make sure we have got more points before I go there."

The tournament starts on January 10 but players can be called up two weeks prior for training camps.
