Pompey sweat on captain

Captain Sol Campbell is a doubt for the clash at West Ham because of a toe injury, while John Utaka is also struggling.

Former England star Campbell has recently shaken off a hamstring problem but is now facing another short-term spell on the sidelines, so Younes Kaboul is on stand-by.

Utaka has been ill this week but fit-again Niko Kranjcar is ready to continue to deputise after returning to the side last week following early-season ankle surgery.

Jerome Thomas is due back in training next week after back trouble, so the Hammers game comes too soon for the former Arsenal youngster.
