Striker questions Pompey's ambition
Portsmouth, 09:28, June 14, 2009 ,
Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch is being linked with a return to Spurs after claiming Pompey have gone backwards.
The England international claims there is turmoil behind the scenes with 15 players out of contract, no permanent manager and the club in the process of being bought out by Sulaiman Al-Fahim, which is all creating uncertainty.
The 28-year-old told the News of the World: "I'm really disappointed. We had Harry (Redknapp), we had Jermain Defoe and Lassana Diarra, we were in Europe and there were ambitions for the club going forward.
"Instead it has taken a backward step. I've got to look at it."
Crouch's comments will be received warmly at White Hart Lane by former Fratton Park chief Redknapp who signed the lanky forward from Liverpool last summer.
Crouch started his career at Spurs but never played for them before making a £60,000 switch to QPR in 2000 and he is now tipped for an £8m return to the north London club.
