Nani calls for understanding

Portugal winger Nani says the players "are not machines" and has called for more understanding from the media.

Nani passed a late fitness test ahead of Portugal's Group B opener in Lviv but could not prevent his side from slipping to a 1-0 defeat to Germany, a result which has drawn stinging criticism.
"It is normal and the criticism has been going for some time. It is easier to criticise than to help," said Nani. "I just think about the national team: if we can give the people some joy, all the better - but if we cannot, we need to know that we gave our best. We are not machines."
