Cristiano Ronaldo says his Portugal team will have to emulate the spirit of the Euro 2004 side if they are to progress in Euro 2012.
The Portugese lost their opening game to Germany last night, which they also did back at Euro 2004, before they recovered to make the final in the tournament that they hosted.
Ronaldo, who emerged on the international scene eight years ago, is keen for the current side to bounce back in the same manner.
"We were better than Germany," Real star Ronaldo told UEFA.
"Now we have to pick ourselves up and continue, we have to take as an example the team of 2004, when we also started with a defeat, but then reached the final."
