Boss' Daddy deal
Preston North End, 13:09, January 25, 2010 ,
Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has completed his loan move to Preston until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old, who signed a four-year extension to his United contract in December, goes straight into the North End squad in time for Tuesday's trip to Peterborough.
Darren Ferguson has called in a favour from his Dad to make the Manchester-born youngster his first signing since taking charge at Deepdale.
Welbeck is highly-rated by the United coaching staff having scored five goals in 24 appearances, but Sir Alex will feel a spell in the Championship can only aid his development.
Ferguson junior told Preston's official website, "Danny is a young lad who has played quite a few games for United this season. He's got fantastic potential.
"I think it helped with United going out of the FA Cup - they wanted him to go out and get experience.
"He'll come here and get games, and I'm sure he'll show the right attitude because of where he's come from."
Meanwhile, Ferguson has confirmed his interest in signing Peterborough midfielder Paul Coutts.
Ferguson said: "There are two or three we have spoken to and Paul is one we have enquired about.
"We have not made an offer, we have just enquired, so we will see what happens - it could be a busy week."
