No WBA contact - Shaw

Preston North End, 12:38, June 29, 2009 ,

Preston chairman Derek Shaw has denied receiving an approach from West Brom for manager Alan Irvine.

The Baggies are looking for a new boss after Tony Mowbray moved to Celtic and former Everton number two Irvine has been linked with a switch to the Hawthorns.
But Shaw is in no mood to lose Irvine's services despite the fact the Scot's deal allows him to speak to clubs interested in him.
Shaw told the Lancashire Evening Post: "We want Alan to remain as the manager of Preston. We've not had any form of approach from WBA and we wouldn't welcome it.
"However, that's all it is, speculation, and he is planning for the new season with Preston.
"As everybody is aware, though, Alan has it written into his contract that if there was interest from elsewhere then he could speak to that club and that's how it is."
