North End chief issues goals plea

Preston North End, 15:27, November 25, 2009 ,

Alan Irvine is happy with how his Preston side are playing but he has warned the players they must start converting their chances.

The North End chief was disappointed after watching his side conjure up several good opportunities against Newcastle at Deepdale on Monday only to then slip to a 1-0 defeat. And, while Irvine praised his players for their overall display, he urged them to start putting the ball into the net on a more consistent basis.
"We had more attempts on goal than Newcastle did, but you have to put them away," said Irvine.
"I said to the players that if they go about the game like that then we will win more games than we lose in this division.
"But it's important that we take our chances when they come our way."
