Shaw denies Irvine approach

Preston North End, 16:06, June 17, 2009 ,

Preston chairman Derek Shaw has heard nothing from West Brom over their reported interest in boss Alan Irvine.

The Baggies are looking for a new manager after losing Tony Mowbray to Celtic this week but Shaw insists they have not yet made any contact over a possible move to install Irvine.
Shaw told the Evening Post: "I have heard nothing from WBA about their interest in Alan."
Meanwhile, Shaw has also played down reports claiming he has received a third bid - this time of £750,000 - for captain Paul McKenna from Nottingham Forest.
He added: "We've heard nothing from them regarding Paul for several weeks now, sometimes I just don't know where these stories come from."
North End have already turned down two bids for McKenna from the City Ground outfit.
