Blackburn star makes Rangers switch

Queens Park Rangers, 15:46, November 19, 2009 ,

Blackburn midfielder Steven Reid is poised to join QPR on loan in time to make his debut against Doncaster on Saturday.

Reid is set to move to Loftus Road on an initial one-month loan deal in a bid to build up his fitness after recently returning to action following a serious knee injury.
The Republic of Ireland international will provide much-needed cover in midfield with Martin Rowlands and Gavin Mahon both sidelined by long-term injuries and Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce revealed it was Reid's idea to go out on loan.
Allardyce said: "We had a chat and it was Steven's decision. He said he fancied it and wanted to get a few games under his belt to improve his fitness. Obviously we'll be seeing how he does."
Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni last month angered Rovers by virtually writing off Reid's top-flight career after an Achilles injury saw him pull out of his country's final World Cup qualifying games.
The Italian claimed a full recovery for Reid would be "very, very difficult."
