Delaney heads for Portman Road

Queens Park Rangers, 11:25, July 1, 2009

Coventry City are set to miss out on QPR left-back Damien Delaney after Ipswich moved in for the player's signature.

Coventry boss Chris Coleman was thought to be set to make the Irishman his first signing of the summer but it now looks as if Ipswich boss Roy Keane has won the race for the Republic of Ireland international.

The 27-year-old will cost the Tractor boys around £700,000 and according to the Lowestoft Journal the deal is 'as good as done'.

QPR have not ruled out doing more business with Ipswich over the course of the summer with Kevin Lisbie and David Norris both linked with a switch to Loftus Road where they would link up with former Ipswich boss Jim Magilton, now in charge at QPR.

"We have no immediate thoughts about bidding for any Ipswich players. But you cannot rule it out," said John Gorman, Magilton's assistant at QPR. "We are back training on Wednesday and have what we believe is a really good squad.

"They will get a chance.

"But we will be looking at a couple of additions, and of course we know the Ipswich players."
